Looking north from the front of the FDC (Fire Direction Control) Bunker you can see the trench that connected the FDC bunker, gun pit and our bunker. This trench line was dug to protect us while we made our way to the guns if under enemy attack. Two mortar men sit in the shade of the ammo bunker connected to the gun pit. Notice the heavily sandbagged roof of the ammo bunker (necessary to protect the ammo from enemy mortar fire).
