Ron Page on Hill 65

Ron01.jpg

Ron Page returns from a patrol to the other side of the Vu Gia River south of Hill 65
with a musical instrument that he liberated from a local village in order to deny the
Viet Cong the joy of entertainment. This photo was taken by me in January 1967 prior
to India Company going south for Operation DeSoto.

The following photo appeared on page 7 in Stars & Stripes on February 11, 1967.
Ron was able to track down a digital copy after all these years and it is recreated here
since it is now part of the public domain.

As can be seen, the photo that appeared in Stars & Stripes was taken by a Marine Corps
photographer either shortly before or shortly after the one that I took but from a different angle.

What an amazing coincidence!
